Recycling Center

Men Picking up Curbside RecyclingPolk County has two regional recycling centers located in Crookston and Fosston. Community Collection sites are also located in most incorporated municipalities within Polk County. The recycling bins located at the Crookston Transfer Station accepts recycling items 24/7 and do not need to be separated as we collect recyclables that are sorted at the Fosston recycling center. Only recyclable items can be dropped off after normal business hours.

Accepted Items

The following materials are accepted at all regional and community recycling centers:

  • Aluminum
  • Cardboard (OCC)
  • Glass
  • Magazines
  • News Print
  • Office Paper
  • Plastic (Number 1, Number 2, and Number 5)
  • Steel/Tin Cans

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

Drop-off and pickup HHW items every weekday during open hours.

Holiday Schedule

Polk County Recycling Center will be closed all legal holidays. If the holiday falls on a Saturday, the Friday before will be closed, and if the holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be closed.
